Packers release receiver Koren Robinson
GREEN BAY, Wis., May 9 (UPI) -- The Green Bay Packers Friday
released troubled wide receiver Koren Robinson, a first-round draft
pick in 2001 by Seattle.
The seven-year veteran served a 12-month suspension for
violating the NFL's substance abuse policy after signing a
free-agent deal in September 2006 with the Packers. Off-the-field
personal problems caused his career to start a downward spiral while
he played for the Seahawks.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported late Friday that his
release was due to the team's glut of receivers.
"There are a couple of teams who are interested," Robinson's
agent, Alvin Keels, told the newspaper. "They just weren't
interested in trading for Koren, at least at the terms the Packers
were seeking. The Packers wanted a draft pick and a couple teams
were offering a player that the Packers didn't feel fit what they
wanted."
Robinson, who also has played for the Minnesota Vikings, has
scored 14 touchdowns on 263 receptions for 3,844 yards.
